During this workshop, Sam will demonstrate ways to treat the surface of your pieces before firing including the use of flashing slips, glazes, and a variety of textures. She will then talk in depth about getting the piece ready to go into the kiln and loading the kiln. Finally, she will discuss the firing process including mixing and adding the “soda” into the kiln. This workshop will be filmed from her home studio and will include several photos and videos from actual soda firings. This is a great workshop for people who have access to a soda kiln and want to learn more about the process of preparing pieces and firing the kiln.
